My Very Merry Christmas

It felt like Christmas came and went this year, faster than a once round on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
It might be my age or it might be the fact I work in retail now (boxing day sales really take the edge off the whole thing) but the day came round this year and it felt a bit of an anti climax to say the least.

In total honesty I really just needed the day off work, minus the turkey, the stressful dinner prep, the obligatory naf movie and a post dinner family argument, but never the less the day arrived and I gave it my best shot.

I hate to sound like a scrooge, because I'm not normally one at all, but Christmas really ain't what it used to be. I worked all the way up to it, and then boxing day as well, rinsed my account on presents and gained about 3 lbs in the process.

Needless to say there are people far worse off than myself, like my Sister who worked the big day itself, caring for those who needed it and selflessly sacrificing her day.

Christmas used to be a time for community and festive spirit. Joy and peace blah blah blah.
I'm starting to feel like something got lost in translation somewhere along the way, and now its about spending a shit ton of money, having the most expensive presents and getting up at 6am to elbow people out of the way for the best bargain the next day (like you haven't spent enough money).

Whatever happened to watching home alone and realising you were out of milk with absolutely nowhere open to get a drop for at least 2 days?

I have written this and re written this, and re written it again, trying to make an upbeat, happy shiny post about my Christmas, and how lucky I am etc etc but I promised myself when I started this blog that I would be honest and upfront. Not just for the people who kindly take time to read it, but for myself so that I can look back and read an honest account of what I actually did. There was no way I could sugar coat this one, because if I am totally honest I am flipping glad its all over!!

End of rant... Now here are some pictures of my BEAUTIFUL presents from my amazing parents, my Sister/Disney partner in crime, and my poor boyfriend who puts up with my Disney obsession on the daily.

Hours of happy reading here...

I'm going to be a Haunted Mansion aficionado by February

It seems word has gotten around that I like Disney or something?! 😜
